Deadline: July 14th 2026, at 12:00 p.m.

The University of Milano-Bicocca is opening the call for applications to participate in the Blended Intensive Program “Agroforestry for Climate Change Adaptation (AFCLIMA)” 2025-1-SK01-KA131-HED-000315967-1 in Slovakia.

This Blended Intensive Program was designed and organized by the Slovak University of Agriculture (SUA) in Nitra as part of the European Universities Initiative – INVEST - INnoVations of REgional Sustainability: European UniversiTy Alliance.

The Blended Intensive Program will take place in two phases:

  • Online phase: September 14–27, 2026
  • In-person phase: September 28–October 2, 2026.

The Blended Intensive Program aims to provide students with interdisciplinary knowledge and practical skills related to climate-resilient land management through agroforestry approaches. The program addresses current environmental challenges, including climate change, soil degradation, biodiversity loss, and water scarcity, by promoting sustainable landscape management practices. The program is open to undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students interested in agroforestry, climate change adaptation, sustainable land management, biodiversity conservation, and environmental planning.

The program includes online lectures, interactive seminars, hands-on exercises with GIS tools, visits to agroforestry demonstration sites, fieldwork, and international group projects. Participants will be involved in developing a collaborative project aimed at designing agroforestry systems adapted to specific environmental and climatic conditions. Upon completion of the program, participants will be awarded 3 CFU, which will be recognized as part of their regular course of study (not as excess credits). The program is conducted entirely in English; a minimum B2 level is required.

To be eligible for selection, students must:

  1. be currently enrolled for the 2025/2026 academic year in one of the University’s degree programs;
  2. be in good standing with the Academic Regulations of their degree program;
  3. not have their academic standing suspended for any reason or be on a leave of absence;
  4. not be repeating a year, not be enrolled solely for credits, and not be enrolled part-time.

Students who are behind in their studies are not eligible for the Program.

All requirements set forth in this article must be met until the Program concludes.

Students who are already eligible for mobility and who have confirmed their participation in the INVEST Summer School 2026 program—organized by the Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne (URCA) in Reims, France, and titled “BIO4SPHERE - BIOeconomy for Sustainable Packaging, Housing, Engineering & Renewable Energy”—will not be considered for selection.
